Chicago—Only 150 students across the country were selected to participate in the 2008 Junior Statesman Summer Scholars Program at Princeton University, including Roberto Saenz, a 16-year-old Latino student at East Aurora High School, who managed to reach that goal with the support of his family and community.

How can I possibly describe such a dynamic and multi-talented individual in a few hundred words? I can only give you a glimpse of the man I know, admire and respect both professionally and personally.

In this day and age, Hispanics are no longer content with living a mediocre lifestyle or being the underdog. Many of us have
learned the hard way that there is more than living hand to mouth and paycheck to paycheck, performing back breaking work
for chump change, and the mere hope of, maybe, only gaining a high school education. Finally, after decades and decades of
